Sound Samples from Femto's G&L L2000 Tribute
Here's some sound files I recorded after I'd made the single coil modification to my G&L L2000 Tribute. The modifications were inspired by a document by a www.talkbass.com member called DavePlaysBass who has contributed a great deal of information to help people to modify the electronics of these great bass guitars.
Dave's original document can be found here.
The way I have done the modification adds both inside and outside single coil modes but without losing Series mode.
An Adobe Acrobat PDF file with switch wiring diagrams can be downloaded from here.
All the following recordings were made using a Roland Cube 30 Bass amplifier, set to the Trace Elliot model and then straight into the line input on my computer.
Strings are Ernie Ball Power Slinkies.
As you will hear, there is no noise from the bass after the modifications have been made. All samples were played fingerstyle.
One thing to be aware of that DavePlaysBass has reminded me of is that this mod will not work as intended with the bass boost capacitors in place. Those capacitors were included in the circuit of pre-2006 USA models. Please refer to Dave's document using the link above.
For these samples, I've gone as closely as I could with the 'Groove' riff from www.basstasters.com. Hey, you never know, they might wanna use them!
